Some new pictures

I just uploaded a few pictures to our Picasa site. See the July Uploads folder here:

Here are a few samples...

Jack, Catie and Lilija

Jack and his "Massive Cookie"

Jack at his Pre K graduation. This was just before he lost his 6th tooth. Two have grown in, so he's 4 short right now. He's missing the front two on top, and the 2nd pair on the bottom, making it pretty hard to find a place to get a tooth-on-tooth bite. As a result, he can only eat about half a watermelon wedge before he can't bite it anymore...

Jack's Art

Jack has been doing a TON of artwork this year. He's gotten pretty good at it. He's also getting pretty good at sounding out how to spell words. And this week his favorite TV show is Zaboomafoo.

This is the result.

Another quick Jackism

When asked how toothpaste got on the sleeve of his pajamas, he answered "My toothpaste fell, and I didn't know about my tongue, so I just used my pajamas."

How old are they before they find out about their tongue?

Jack and summer

As we were talking about how much we like summer because of fruit salad and sunny days, Jack said "I don't like summer, because in summer, I don't get to wear socks!"

Welcome Lilija Grace!

This afternoon (21 minutes past noon) Lilija Grace Indrebo was born, at 8 lbs 3.4 oz and just over 20 inches long. She had a bit of a tough time coming into the world, and got a bit bruised, but not too bad. No broken shoulder like Catie had. But you can see the bruising from about her chin up...

Catie and the camera

I was trying to get a shot of Kelly, Jack and Catie doing some kids yoga in front of the TV. Then Catie saw the camera...

I think she has a future in Hollywood.

Walking with Dinosaurs

Jack and Kelly gave me an early Father's Day present - two tickets to see Walking with Dinosaurs at Key Arena. We were in row 6, so I figured they'd be pretty good seats. Then when we got there, we discovered that the first 5 rows were all closed for the performance, meaning we were in the front row!

The show was absolutely AMAZING! As you're watching it, you actually forget that they aren't realy dinosaurs. Even the sounds seem realistic - it was the kind of bass that you can feel more than hear. Just like you might expect from a dinosaur. Unfortunately, all that bass sort of ovewhelmed the video camera mic, so it's pretty distorted.

10 things Jack knows about the world.

Kelly asked Jack what he knows about the world, just to see what he'd come up with. Because we had just watched the movie "Because of Winn Dixie" (a pretty good movie, incidentally), Jack said he knew 10 things about the world...

1) People live in it
2) We have cars to get around in the world
3) God built the world and people love God
4) Barak Obama is the president of the UNIVERSE and he lives in the United States
5) There are a thousand countries in the world
6) Washington State in in this world
7) People live in houses (for 100 years)
8) In China, they use a little different language
9) Boys and girls like to play with toys and eat and drink everywhere in the world
10) Honey comes from bees.

A few more Jackisms

The other day Jack asked about soldiers, and if they have guns and what they use them for. Kelly told them that yes, they have guns, and they shoot people with them.

"Bad guys?" asked Jack

Kelly paused, contemplating telling him about how some wars aren't as clear as good guys vs. bad guys, and sometimes both sides see themselves as the good guys. But I intervened, and said "Yes, Jack, the soldiers shoot at the bad guys."

Then Jack said:
"When I'm the leader of the soldiers, I'm going to teach the soldiers to call the police to catch bad guys, and use the guns to shoot animals for food!"

On Christmas morning, as we sat around the table eating our special breakfast of oatmeal with strawberries, we noticed that Jack was distracted by his...lap. So Kelly asked him "Jack, what are you doing?"

"Mommy, my penis....it's happy for Christmas!"

-------------

At dinner, Jack said to Kelly "Mommy, you're skinny." And Kelly seemed pretty flattered, and as she opened her mouth to say Thank You, Jack continued "But some 33 year olds are skinnier".
